Chapter 580:The Lonely Top Student 43

The third uncle’s eyes darkened as he analyzed the situation.

To ensure compatibility, the Jiao family had gone to extreme lengths—feeding Jiao Tong ashes processed from Jiao Chun after his death, all to merge flesh and blood and ease possession.

And yet—

Not only had Jiao Chun failed to take over, his soul had been destroyed.

That meant only one thing: Jiao Tong’s soul was far stronger than they had ever anticipated.

A thought flickered through the third uncle’s mind.

If such a soul could be used… wouldn’t he be the perfect vessel?

The killing intent in his gaze slowly shifted into something colder—calculating.

Jiao Tong, however, remained completely unfazed.

He even let out a lazy, mocking chuckle.

“Why bother asking? He got himself killed.”

His tone was casual, almost bored.

“Last night—Ghost Festival. He came out trying to devour wandering spirits before finishing me off. But instead, he ran into a Ghost King and got swallowed whole.”

He paused, lips curling slightly.

“If he hadn’t been so greedy, he wouldn’t have died like that.”

His words were deliberate—fuel to the fire.

And it worked.

Jiao’s mother exploded instantly.

“AHHH! I’ll kill you!” she screamed, rushing into the kitchen.

Moments later, she came charging out with a knife, eyes filled with madness.

Jiao Tong immediately moved toward the door as if to escape.

But the third uncle sneered coldly.

With a flick of his finger, a yellow talisman flew forward and stuck to the door.

The door sealed shut instantly.

Jiao Tong’s face showed “panic”—but inside, he was completely calm.

Wanwan will handle this.

Outside the door, Tang Wan had already arrived.

Seeing Jiao’s mother rushing forward with a knife, she slammed her hands against the door.

“Tong Tong, get out of the way!” she shouted.

Hearing her voice, Jiao Tong immediately rolled aside onto the sofa.

The knife struck the leather cushion with a heavy thud.

At the same time, the third uncle snorted.

“Trying to escape?”

Another talisman shot toward Jiao Tong.

He grabbed a sofa cushion and swung it to block.

Ding—

The elevator doors opened.

Police officers rushed out onto the floor.

Since this was a school district, the nearest station was less than a kilometer away—Tang Wan’s call had brought them here in under five minutes.

“Officers, it’s here!” Tang Wan said urgently. “My classmate’s parents are trying to kill him!”

The officers nodded and rushed forward.

“Open the door! Police—”

But before they could finish—

Bang!

The door suddenly collapsed inward with a loud crash.

Everyone froze.

The officer who had just raised his hand stared blankly.

Inside, the Jiao family was equally stunned.

Wasn’t the door sealed with a talisman? How did it just… fall?

With the door down, the scene inside was fully exposed.

Jiao’s mother stood there, knife in hand, mid-swing toward Jiao Tong.

The officers’ expressions darkened instantly.

“Don’t move!” one of them shouted, rushing in.
“We received a report of attempted murder!”
