Chapter 579:The Lonely Top Student 42
Hearing Jiao’s mother, Jiao Tong deliberately acted clueless.
“I was watching a movie with Wanwan just now. My phone was on silent, so I didn’t hear it. Why so many calls? Did something happen at home?”
His tone perfectly mimicked Jiao Chun’s usual way of speaking.
Jiao’s mother tightened her grip on the phone.
“Yes… something happened back home. I need you to come back immediately. Are you coming now?”
“I got it. I’ll head back now.”
“Good. Hurry!”
…
After hanging up, Jiao Tong looked at Tang Wan calmly.
“Let’s go back.”
Tang Wan nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll be right here.”
He gave a faint smile. “I’m not afraid.”
If anything, this confrontation was long overdue.
…
When they reached the residential complex, Tang Wan stopped downstairs.
“You go up first,” she said. “Keep your phone recording at all times. I’ll be ready to call the police if anything happens.”
Jiao Tong nodded, then leaned down and kissed her gently on the forehead.
“I’m going up.”
“Go.”
…
Standing downstairs, Tang Wan watched quietly, tracking everything through Little Cutie.
Soon, Jiao Tong reached the eleventh floor.
Inside, Jiao’s mother, father, and the third uncle were already waiting.
The moment he entered, the third uncle’s sharp gaze locked onto him.
“Chunchun,” Jiao’s mother said abruptly, “do you remember why the first talisman your third grandfather gave you broke?”
Jiao Tong glanced at them, casually dropping his backpack.
“That was years ago. I don’t remember.”
“You must remember!” she snapped.
That incident—playing spirit invocation with classmates, nearly being harmed by evil—was something “Jiao Chun” could never forget.
Yet Jiao Tong suddenly laughed.
A cold, mocking laugh.
“I’m not the ‘Chunchun’ you’re talking about. Why would I remember his past?”
Silence.
Then—
Jiao’s mother staggered back slightly, her face twisting.
“So it is you!” she shrieked. “Jiao Tong! We raised you like our own son, and you killed mine! I won’t let you go!”
Jiao’s father’s expression darkened with fury.
The third uncle’s eyes turned icy.
Jiao Tong only sneered.
“Your son died in a car race over ten years ago. And you still blame me? When he died, I wasn’t even born yet.”
“Shut up!” Jiao’s mother screamed hysterically. “My son isn’t dead! If you hadn’t refused to give up your body, he would still be alive! You deserve to die!”
Then she turned to the third uncle, her voice frantic:
“Third Uncle, do it! Take this wretched thing down!”
…
The third uncle narrowed his eyes at Jiao Tong.
“I’m curious,” he said slowly. “How did you manage to suppress—and even expel—Jiao Chun’s soul?”
After all, Jiao Chun’s spirit had been nurtured for over a decade using secret methods.
Meanwhile, Jiao Tong had been made to drink talisman-infused water every year—weakening his soul over time.
By all logic, Jiao Chun should have taken full control long ago.
And yet—
Things had clearly not gone according to plan.
