Chapter 549:The Lonely Top Student 12
Tang Wan finally relaxed when Jiao Tong finished the entire bottle of mineral water.
“Stay under the sun for ten minutes,” she instructed. “That’ll keep the ghost from acting up. I’ll go get lunch.”
“Alright. Thank you,” Jiao Tong nodded.
“No need to thank me—serving a handsome guy puts me in a good mood!” Tang Wan replied cheerfully.
Jiao Tong’s lips stiffened slightly, but his ears turned red.
It wasn’t like no one had confessed to him before. Girls had written letters, stopped him in the hallway—but they were always reserved.
At most: I like you.
But Tang Wan?
She said things like I’ll give myself to you, future wife, serving a handsome guy…
He genuinely didn’t know how to respond.
And yet—
He didn’t hate it.
If anything, it made him… strangely happy.
Tang Wan quickly left the rooftop.
After she was gone, Jiao Tong stood obediently under the blazing sun, not even stepping into the shade.
Fifteen minutes later, Tang Wan returned with two meal boxes.
By then, his pale skin was already flushed from the heat.
“Tongtong, come here quickly! I said ten minutes, not roasting yourself alive!” she said, hurrying over.
She inserted a straw into a cup of mung bean soup and handed it to him. “Drink this—don’t get heatstroke.”
Jiao Tong accepted it, slightly dazed.
For some reason… the way she fussed over him felt oddly familiar.
Tang Wan quickly took out a wet wipe, cooled it with iced water, and handed it over. “Wipe your face.”
“…Thank you,” he said softly.
“Why so polite? If you get heatstroke, you’re just giving that ghost an advantage,” Tang Wan replied.
He nodded and wiped his face. The heat faded, replaced by a refreshing coolness.
A light breeze passed.
Jiao Tong finally felt… comfortable again.
“Dip! Favorability +10. Current favorability: 50,” Little Cutie chimed.
Tang Wan ignored it, glancing at him. “Alright, eat.”
She opened the lunch boxes.
Since the soul-repair fluid could also benefit the ghost if it surfaced, they had to stay on the rooftop during this crucial period.
After eating, Tang Wan guided him into the shade.
“No need to stay in the sun the whole time,” she said. “How do you feel now?”
Jiao Tong thought for a moment.
“After drinking the water… my mind feels clearer. As for the rest… nothing obvious yet.”
“That’s good,” Tang Wan nodded, relieved.
Then she added confidently, “That just means my ‘blessed water’ is working on your soul. Keep staying close to me, and eventually that ghost won’t last.”
“…I hope so,” Jiao Tong said quietly.
Soon, the bell rang for afternoon classes.
The two left the rooftop and returned to their classrooms.
