Chapter 522:#007 the Killer King 22
Hei Tong froze for a split second when he saw Tang Wan collapse in front of him.
He had never expected
her to step in and take the hit for him.
But this wasn’t the
time to hesitate.
In the next moment,
Hei Tong scooped her up, his expression turning icy as he fired back at the
attacker near the doorway.
Tang Wan, however,
forced a grin and steadied herself against him, pushing her body forward as
much as she could so she wouldn’t slow him down.
When they reached the
end of the corridor, she said quickly, “Take the stairs!”
“Got it!” Hei Tong
replied without hesitation.
He carried her and
sprinted toward the stairwell, his face calm but his speed pushed to the limit.
Tang Wan wrapped her
arms weakly around his neck, her mood strangely light as Little Cutie’s
notifications rang in her mind.
“Ding! Villain
favorability +5…”
“Ding! Villain
favorability +10…”
“Ding! Villain
favorability +10. Current favorability: 89! Host, you’re really good at
acting—but aren’t you afraid of risking your life? You actually blocked the
bullets for him!” Little Cutie protested.
If you die, how
will you complete the mission? You’re not the protagonist—you don’t have plot
armor!
Tang Wan replied
calmly, Relax. I’m wearing a bulletproof vest. At most, I’ve got a few
broken ribs and some serious bruising on my leg. Besides… if I don’t bleed a
little, how am I supposed to melt Tong Tong’s cold heart?
Little Cutie: …
You’re getting more
and more ruthless, you know that?
Hei Tong’s speed was
terrifying.
Afraid she might lose
consciousness at any moment, he pushed himself even faster.
He had always thought
her words—saying she liked him—were nothing more than curiosity or casual talk.
But now…
She had risked her
life to protect him.
If this isn’t love…
then what is?
Ten seconds later,
they reached the thirty-third floor.
Just as Hei Tong was
about to abandon Dr. Ha and take her straight to the rooftop, Tang Wan spoke.
“Tong Tong, go to our
room. Dr. Ha is there. We can reach the rooftop from the balcony.”
“But your injuries…”
Hei Tong’s eyes softened, his pale golden gaze filled with worry.
“I’m fine. Just minor
injuries,” Tang Wan said immediately.
Hei Tong looked at her
deeply for a moment, then carried her toward the room.
After swiping the
card, they rushed inside and headed straight for the balcony.
Dr. Ha was sitting
nervously on the sofa. When he saw them, his expression changed. “Y-you’re
injured?”
“It’s nothing serious.
Doctor, the enemy will be here soon—we have to leave immediately,” Tang Wan
said.
Dr. Ha nodded quickly.
“Alright, but how are we leaving? There are still people outside—”
“Don’t worry.”
Tang Wan slipped out
of Hei Tong’s arms and said, “Wait for me.”
With effort, she
climbed onto the balcony and grabbed the rope that had been set up earlier.
She secured the hook
at her waist, pressed the mechanism, and was pulled upward in an instant.
After climbing into
the helicopter, Tang Wan maneuvered it down to align with the balcony on the
thirty-third floor.
“Tang Tong, come on!”
she called, throwing down a rope with a harness.
Hei Tong caught it,
secured Dr. Ha first, and sent him up into the helicopter.
Then, without
hesitation, he leapt from the balcony and grabbed the rope ladder, climbing up
swiftly.
At that very moment,
the door to their room was kicked open.
