Chapter 496: The Pure-Clad Dark Heir 46

Tang Wan’s lips twitched sharply.

Ever since the fusion, Jiang Yuantong had become completely unpredictable. Sometimes he acted innocent, clinging to her and begging for affection; sometimes he carried himself like a proud young master; and other times, he would corner her with a wicked, domineering air.

He really knew how to switch faces.

On the other side, after leaving the Tang residence, Tang Li immediately put on a tearful, aggrieved expression.

“Prince, Li’er feels so wronged. I didn’t expect that in my sister and brother-in-law’s eyes, I’m just a lowly concubine, not even worthy of being called family,” she said softly.

Zhou Shixi quickly comforted her.
“Don’t cry. Jiang Yuantong is just a fool—why bother with him? Besides, I promise you, one day they will have to bow their heads before you.”

Hearing this, Tang Li finally smiled.
“Thank you, Prince. With your words, Li’er feels at ease. Back then, my sister always looked down on me at home. From now on, I must rely on you to turn things around.”

“Hmph! Once you become my woman, your status will be a thousand times higher than hers,” Zhou Shixi said coldly.

He had long noticed how Tang Wan used to suppress Tang Li. Once he ascended the throne, he would make Tang Wan enter the palace and kneel before Li’er.

Tang Li covered her lips as she laughed softly, hiding the cold glint in her eyes.

However, what they didn’t know was that after hearing the prince had accompanied Tang Li back to her natal home, the crown princess—still confined to bed—smashed her medicine bowl in anger.

“This wretched woman is getting more and more arrogant! She’s just a concubine, yet she dares to have the prince accompany her home?!”

In the original storyline, the crown princess was one of the few who could truly contend with Tang Li. If not for the later chaos caused by Jiang Yuantong turning into a ghost king, Tang Li would not have had the opportunity to eliminate her so quickly.

But now, things were different. Jiang Yuantong would not lose control, and the capital would remain stable. If nothing unexpected happened, the crown princess would not fall so easily.

When the time came, it would depend on how capable Tang Li truly was.

“Your Highness, please calm down,” a maid beside her said hurriedly.

The crown princess took a deep breath and gradually composed herself.

Then she said coldly to her attendant,
“Spread this matter to the imperial consort.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

The attendant smiled knowingly.
“Your Highness is wise. The imperial consort dislikes low-born concubines the most. This time, Tang Li will suffer.”

The crown princess gave a low hum, her eyes turning cold.

As long as she lived, Tang Li would never rise above her position.

None of this concerned Tang Wan.

After returning to Prince Lin’s Mansion, she resumed her leisurely life of eating and resting.

Half a month later, it was discovered that she was already more than a month pregnant.

When King Lao Lin heard the news, he was overjoyed.
“Excellent! My Jiang family finally has an heir!”

He immediately arranged for extra maids to attend to Tang Wan, fearing anything might go wrong.

Meanwhile, Jiang Yuantong stared at Tang Wan’s stomach with a complicated expression.

Previously, King Lao Lin had constantly urged him about having a bridal chamber. But now, after learning of the pregnancy, he had strictly forbidden any further intimacy—completely reversing his stance.

Still… perhaps this wasn’t entirely bad.

Since he couldn’t indulge himself, there were other matters he could now focus on.

King Lao Lin naturally saw through his thoughts.

After a soft sigh, he patted Jiang Yuantong’s shoulder.
“If there’s something you want to do, go ahead. But don’t harm the innocent. And don’t forget—your wife is carrying your child. For the sake of your child’s fortune, you must avoid unnecessary bloodshed.”
