Chapter 463: The Pure-Clad Dark Heir 13

It took a long moment before Jiang Yuantong finally looked away from Tang Wan.

He swallowed unconsciously, then glanced back at her face.

She was… really beautiful.

And she was still asleep now…

If he touched her just a little—very lightly—she probably wouldn’t notice, right?

With that thought, he cautiously stretched out a hand and poked her lightly—then immediately withdrew it.

Seeing that Tang Wan didn’t wake, he relaxed slightly and grew bolder.

What started as a light poke turned into a hesitant touch.

That was when Tang Wan finally stirred.

“Tongtong…” she murmured instinctively, her voice still hoarse.

Jiang Yuantong instantly pulled his hand back, looking guilty. “M-Madam, you’re awake?”

Tang Wan slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing him right in front of her, her mind flashed back to everything from the night before.

“Jiang Yuantong!” she snapped, trying to sit up.

But the moment she pushed herself up, her strength gave out, and she fell back onto the bed.

Jiang Yuantong flinched. “Madam… what’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong? You dare ask?” Tang Wan glared at him.

Jiang Yuantong thought she had caught him just now and immediately lowered his head. “I’m sorry, Madam… I just couldn’t help it. If you’re angry, you can pinch me back…”

Tang Wan sneered. “Still pretending? Keep pretending.”

“Pretending what?” he asked, looking completely confused.

Tang Wan paused.

Looking at his expression—

She suddenly realized something.

Wait.

Could it be…

That the Jiang Yuantong from last night… had been his complete self?

Had she been tricked?

The realization hit her, and her teeth clenched slightly.

Seeing her expression darken, Jiang Yuantong shrank back again.

Why did she suddenly look so fierce?

After a moment, Tang Wan took a deep breath and said, “Help me up.”

“Oh.” Jiang Yuantong immediately reached out and supported her.

As he did, his gaze drifted downward again.

Tang Wan let out a cold laugh inwardly.

…Typical.

“Someone, bring in hot water,” she called toward the door.

A maid quickly entered. “Second Madam, the hot water is ready.”

Soon, attendants carried in water and filled the bathing tub behind the screen.

Once everything was prepared, Tang Wan waved them off. “You may leave. I’ll manage on my own.”

The maids bowed and withdrew.

After they were gone, Tang Wan turned to Jiang Yuantong. “Help me over.”

“Yes, Madam,” he replied obediently.

As he helped her toward the bath, his thoughts drifted—unbidden—to the memory of her pulling him out of the water that day… and the brief contact they had shared then.

He tightened his grip slightly, as if afraid that memory might slip away.
