Chapter 39: Diablo 36
Tang Wan’s refusal immediately brightened Tang Yitong’s mood, and the corners of his tightly pressed lips couldn’t help but curl upward.
Then he looked blankly
at Lu Yi and said, “The place that rents grills is over there.”
After speaking, he
calmly flipped a few skewers of small yellow croaker on the grill.
Seeing this, Lu Yi
glanced at Tang Wan, who was staring expectantly at the grilled fish, then at
Tang Yitong, who was quietly grilling beside her. Suddenly, he smiled.
“Thanks. I’ll go rent
one now.”
These two people were
really interesting.
He didn’t think he had
done anything to offend them, yet neither of them welcomed him.
But the more they
acted this way, the more curious he became about them.
The next moment, he
turned to Lu Rongrong and said, “Rongrong, I’ll go rent a grill. You can buy
the seafood.”
“Oh... okay...” Lu
Rongrong nodded strangely as she looked at Lu Yi.
On the surface, her
brother appeared gentle and refined, like a noble young master. But in reality,
he was naturally cold and distant. Most of the warmth he showed others was
merely politeness.
But today was
different.
He seemed unusually
interested in Tang Wan.
Why?
…
After Lu Yi and the
others left, Tang Wan immediately whispered to Tang Yitong, “Tongtong, are you
done yet? Let’s take everything back to the hotel and eat there!”
Hearing this, Tang
Yitong’s heart stirred instantly, and he immediately understood what she meant.
Wanwan didn’t want to
get involved with those people just now?
Great.
So while calmly
turning over the grilled fish, he nodded and said, “Just two more minutes.”
“Good!” Tang Wan
nodded happily.
Two minutes later,
Tang Yitong packed all the grilled seafood into insulated containers. Then he
called the rental shop owner to let them know someone could come collect the
grill.
Only after finishing
did he softly say to Tang Wan, “Okay, let’s go back.”
“Okay!”
When Lu Yi arrived to
rent the grill, all he saw was a lonely barbecue stand with glowing charcoal
still burning brightly.
He instantly
understood what had happened and almost laughed in disbelief.
Tang Wan...
She was deliberately
avoiding him?
Interesting.
Very interesting.
She had successfully
provoked his desire to pursue the mystery.
After taking out his
phone to tell Lu Rongrong not to buy seafood anymore, Lu Yi curled his lips
into a smile and left.
…
Back at the hotel,
Tang Wan had booked a two-bedroom suite.
As soon as they
entered, she curled up lazily on the sofa with her legs crossed, waiting
expectantly for Tang Yitong to unpack the food.
The moment she bit
into a small yellow croaker, the spicy and savory flavor exploded in her mouth.
“It’s delicious!
Tongtong, your cooking skills are getting better and better!” she praised while
inhaling sharply from the heat.
“As long as you like
it,” Tang Yitong replied softly.
A faint smile appeared
on his face, but his eyes quietly lingered on Tang Wan’s red lips, a dark light
flickering within them.
At that moment, Tang
Wan suddenly asked, “Do we have beer? Barbecue absolutely needs beer!”
Actually, roadside
barbecue and cheap beer weren’t something wealthy people usually ate.
But some of her
ex-boyfriends had still been college students with little money. Whenever they
couldn’t afford expensive restaurants, they’d go for barbecue, spicy skewers,
and other cheap food instead.
Although most of those
men had approached her with ulterior motives, she still appreciated them for
introducing her to so many unhealthy yet delicious foods.
Hearing her request,
Tang Yitong nodded. “I think there’s some. Wait a moment.”
Then he walked toward
the refrigerator.
A short while later,
he came back carrying two cans of beer.
At this moment,
however, Tang Yitong clearly didn’t know one important thing—
Tang Wan became
completely wild when she drank.
After taking a sip of
beer, Tang Wan revealed an extremely satisfied expression and happily devoured
three scallops in a row.
