Chapter 38: Diablo 35
Tang Wan was immediately awakened by the voice. She opened her eyes groggily and let out a small yawn, looking like a sleepy little cat—delicate and adorable.
Tang Yitong felt his
heart tremble at the sight. Then he realized Lu Yi was standing nearby and
quickly got up, shifting his position to block Tang Wan from view.
Unfortunately, it was
already too late. Lu Yi, Yun Nuan, and the others had already seen the scene
just now.
“Awake? Drink some
orange juice to soothe your throat.” Tang Yitong handed her a glass of freshly
squeezed orange juice.
Tang Wan let out a
soft hum and took two sips through the straw.
Only then did she
notice Lu Yi and the others standing nearby. She lazily raised her eyes toward
them. “What a coincidence.”
Hearing this, Lu
Rongrong finally recovered from the shock of seeing Tang Wan’s sleepy
appearance. She coughed lightly and said, “What a coincidence indeed. Why did
you come here for vacation?”
“Nothing much to do
after the New Year. It’s too cold back home, but it’s warm here,” Tang Wan
replied casually.
Lu Rongrong nodded,
though she was slightly unhappy seeing Tang Wan had no intention of chatting
further.
So she continued,
“Just the two of you?”
“Who else would there
be?” Tang Wan asked back.
Lu Rongrong instantly
felt awkward.
Given Tang Wan’s
family situation... it really didn’t seem likely that her family would vacation
together.
At that moment, Lu Yi
suddenly looked at Tang Wan and said, “Hello, I’m Lu Yi, Rongrong’s brother.
Mind if we sit here?”
Yun Nuan immediately
looked at Lu Yi in shock after hearing that.
Even Lu Rongrong
seemed surprised.
Meanwhile, Tang Yitong
stared fixedly at Tang Wan, waiting for her answer.
Tang Wan almost
laughed seeing his darkened eyes and tense expression.
Then she looked at Lu
Yi and said, “Of course you can.”
The moment Tang Yitong
heard that, his heart tightened instantly.
His mind was racing
uncontrollably.
Unexpectedly, the very
next second, Tang Wan stood up and said to the group, “Tongtong and I have
already rested enough anyway. We’re going to play on the beach now. You guys
can sit here.”
Then she grabbed Tang
Yitong’s wrist. “Why are you still standing there? Let’s go!”
Tang Yitong snapped
back to his senses.
The tightly knotted
feeling in his chest melted instantly into sweetness, and he couldn’t stop the
smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Lu Yi watched the two
of them leave, a trace of amusement flashing across his face.
Yun Nuan, who had been
secretly observing Lu Yi’s expression the whole time, felt her heart sink. Her
hands unconsciously clenched tightly.
Lu Yi... was he
interested in Tang Wan?
No way!
She absolutely
couldn’t let Tang Wan steal Lu Yi away from her!
…
After spending the
entire afternoon at the beach, Tang Wan suddenly wanted barbecue for dinner.
Tang Yitong
immediately rented a barbecue grill and began grilling seafood for her by the
shore.
Not long after the two
started eating, Lu Yi and the others appeared again.
“Mind if we join you?
I’m actually pretty good at grilling too,” Lu Yi said with a gentle smile.
Yun Nuan’s expression
became even uglier after hearing that, and she stared directly at Tang Wan.
What happened this
afternoon could still be dismissed as coincidence.
But now?
Even Tang Wan was
speechless seeing them again.
Why did they keep
running into each other?
“Sorry, the rental
place over there has grilling equipment too if you want barbecue. I don’t like
eating with outsiders,” Tang Wan rejected them immediately.
She really didn’t want
to get involved with the heroine at all.
Then she secretly
called out to Little Cutie in her mind, “Little Cutie, why do I feel like
something’s off? Tongtong and I are just cannon fodder and villains, so why do
the male and female leads keep coming over to us?”
Little Cutie sounded
equally depressed. “I don’t know either. Anyway, you should stay away from
them.”
“That’s exactly what I
think,” Tang Wan replied inwardly.
She didn’t want to get
struck by disaster because of the male and female leads!
In her eyes, those two
were basically walking calamities!
