Chapter 1491: Her Highness the Princess (41)

“How are they?” Tang Guo asked when Yun Buxiu emerged.

Yun Buxiu replied, “They're only suffering from external injuries. They probably caught a chill from the rain and developed a fever. I've already given them medicine. They'll wake up tomorrow.”

“Mm.”

Yun Buxiu had many questions in his heart, but seeing Tang Guo gazing into the distance, he chose not to ask.

If he remembered correctly, that direction was where she had sent those attendants earlier.

So, was something else going to happen?

Yun Buxiu's prediction was correct. About half an hour later, those attendants returned.

Not only had they come back, they were carrying someone on their backs. Even though the rain had washed over them, the smell of blood still lingered on their bodies, making it clear that they had fought someone.

“Is she still alive?”

Tang Guo looked at the woman they placed on a wooden board. Her face was deathly pale, and there were multiple knife wounds on her body.

“She is,” Yun Buxiu answered. “But her injuries are severe. It'll probably take one or two months for her to recover.”

“Oh… as long as she's alive. Yingzhu, help the National Preceptor.”

This time, Tang Guo retreated to a private corner inside the shelter and stopped watching outside.

Yun Buxiu understood.

Nothing more would happen.

After treating the woman's wounds, he turned to look for Tang Guo, only for Yingzhu to inform him, “Her Highness has already retired for the night.”

Yun Buxiu nodded. Countless questions remained in his mind, but they could only disappear into the darkness.

Everything that had happened today was far too strange.

It was almost as though she had known all along that these things would happen.

Who was that woman?

Who were those two children?

Had she really traveled all this way and waited more than a day just to save three strangers?

No.

He didn't believe she had that much idle time.

Their identities must be special.

But what kind of identities could make her care so much?

Carrying these questions with him, Yun Buxiu went to rest.

Tang Guo, on the other hand, slept soundly.

Early the next morning, she had only just begun eating some porridge when a child's loud cry came from inside.

“Mother!”

The cry was so miserable that it made one's hair stand on end.

Setting down her bowl, Tang Guo walked inside.

There she found the boy sitting blankly on the bed, looking warily around him.

His eyes were filled with confusion, clearly wondering how he had ended up there.

Sensing someone entering, he quickly raised his head.

The moment he saw Tang Guo, his whole body trembled in shock.

“How is this possible?”

The question escaped his mouth instinctively.

Hearing it, Tang Guo raised an eyebrow slightly.

“Tongzi, don't you think something's wrong?”

System: Host, that child's eyes are completely lacking in innocence. They're even somewhat world-weary. Perhaps…

“Rebirth.”

Tang Guo finished the sentence.

Although Lü Yufan quickly concealed his astonishment and forced his expression and gaze back into confusion, he couldn't fool her.

“You seem lively enough. It looks like your life is no longer in danger,” Tang Guo said with a smile.

Lü Yufan was completely dumbfounded.

Wasn't this the Eldest Princess?

Why was she here?

Shouldn't she be in the Princess Manor within the Imperial City at this time?

What was going on?

Wait!

Lü Yufan lowered his head and stared at his own hands.

Small hands.

His pupils contracted.

Turning his head, he saw the little girl sleeping beside him. His eyes filled with pain and complicated emotions.

His sister?

Why was his sister so young too?

What was happening?

Watching Lü Yufan's stunned and disbelieving expression, Tang Guo turned to Yingzhu and said, “Stand guard outside. Don't let anyone come in.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”
