Chapter 1489: Her Highness the Princess (35)
“What are they doing next door?”
Tang Guo sat in the courtyard, eating the fruit gifted to her by the common people while gazing toward the neighboring estate beyond the wall.
The residence next door had originally been a grand mansion. It had stood vacant for years, with no one living there, and had long since been reclaimed by the imperial family.
Now that there was activity coming from it, had her imperial father bestowed it upon someone?
“Your Highness, shall this servant go and ask?” Yingzhu suggested.
Tang Guo nodded.
Yingzhu immediately trotted off to the neighboring estate. At the same time, Tang Guo had the System investigate what was happening over there.
System: It looks like they're renovating the mansion. Someone is probably moving in.
“Such a large estate in such a prime location. Whoever's moving in must have quite a high status.” Tang Guo thought for a moment. “I wonder who was lucky enough to get this residence.”
No sooner had she finished speaking than Yingzhu came running back. Following behind her was a handsome man in white robes with an ethereal bearing. If it wasn't Yun Buxiu, who else could it be?
“Your Highness the Eldest Princess.”
Yun Buxiu greeted her with a smile and slowly walked over, stopping not far away.
Tang Guo raised an eyebrow slightly. “National Preceptor? What brings you here?”
“As your future neighbor, I've come to pay my respects to Your Highness.” Yun Buxiu smiled warmly. “From now on, I'll be living next door. I hope Your Highness will look after me.”
System: He gets in through every crack.
Tang Guo: Shamelessly thick-skinned.
“National Preceptor, you're already an adult. You should learn to take care of yourself. If you truly can't manage, then spend a little more money and hire some servants to look after you.”
Yun Buxiu's heart sank slightly.
So Her Highness still didn't think much of him?
This Eldest Princess truly held grudges.
He had already changed. He no longer approached her with those impure motives.
Well… perhaps he still had motives now.
His current motive was simply to offer himself to her.
But so much time had passed, and he had never found the opportunity to say it aloud.
“Your Highness, if you ever wish to go out for leisure, you can come find me.”
Seeing the puzzled look in Tang Guo's eyes, he hurriedly added, “I can divine the future. I can help Your Highness predict the weather. If the weather is good, you may go out. If it's bad, you can stay home. And if you absolutely must go out on a rainy day, my divination will at least tell you to bring an umbrella.”
System: Hahaha! I'm dying. Is he treating himself like a weather forecast? ‘Not suitable for travel today. Please remember your umbrella.’
“In that case, having the National Preceptor as a neighbor isn't so bad. At least I won't have to worry about getting caught in the rain.”
Yun Buxiu quickly nodded. “Exactly.”
Seeing that Tang Guo had no intention of keeping him longer, he reluctantly bid her farewell and said he still needed to inspect the estate, but that he would visit again another day.
Ten days later, the mansion next door had been fully renovated, and Yun Buxiu came calling once more.
“Your Highness the Eldest Princess, would you honor me with your presence and have a meal at my humble residence? From now on, we'll be neighbors, and I'd like to maintain a good relationship with Your Highness.”
“After all, a nearby neighbor is better than distant relatives.”
This time, Yun Yin had accompanied him as well.
Hearing Yun Buxiu's words, Yun Yin wore an indescribable expression.
He truly hadn't expected that in front of the Eldest Princess, his young master would completely lose the lofty demeanor of an exalted master and instead resemble a peacock showing off its feathers.
That gaze was so straightforward that it practically screamed that he had fallen for her.
This time, Tang Guo didn't refuse.
Yun Buxiu was overjoyed. He immediately and carefully escorted her over.
With the first time came a second.
Yun Buxiu frequently found all sorts of reasons to invite Tang Guo to meals. Today it was to celebrate moving into his new residence. Tomorrow it would be because he had acquired some rare treasure and was so delighted that he simply had to invite her to dine.
