Chapter 1443: The Blackened Good Girl (78)
“Wu Lingling, when you say those words, have you ever seriously thought about them?”
“I
had no obligation to help you. You're blaming me for losing my phone, for not
answering your call, for not delivering the money, and saying that's why you
ended up in those thugs' hands and are still entangled with them to this day,
right?”
“Isn't
that the truth?” Wu Lingling shouted angrily. “If you hadn't lost your phone
and had delivered the money to Brother Dao, how could I have ended up like
that? So, Tang Guo, all the tragedy in my life today was caused by you.”
Everyone
present felt their worldview refreshed by the extent of Wu Lingling's
shamelessness.
They
had seen all kinds of shameless people before, but never one so utterly devoid
of shame.
“Wu
Lingling, stop embarrassing yourself. Think about it. President Tang is only a
year older than you, right? Back then, you were in your third year of middle
school while she was only a first-year high school student. You refused to
study, spent your days fooling around outside, provoked gangsters, and got
yourself taken away. You brought that upon yourself.”
“You
called President Tang for help, but forget about her losing her phone—even if
she hadn't, she had no obligation to save you. If she'd answered, out of
kindness she might have informed your parents or called the police. Do you
understand or not? President Tang isn't your parents. She has no duty to manage
your life or take responsibility for it. Whether you lived or died had
absolutely nothing to do with her.”
“And
yet you're shameless enough to place all the blame for your self-inflicted,
degenerate life on President Tang. I've truly broadened my horizons seeing
someone this thick-skinned.”
“And
another thing, Wu Lingling. Looking at those photos, I didn't see any sign that
you were unwilling. What's even more horrifying is that Lu Jing was kept in the
dark the whole time, and you even had two abortions for those gangsters, yet
you dumped the blame on Lu Jing. That's simply absurd.”
The
constant accusations from all sides left those associated with Wu Lingling
utterly humiliated.
Lu
Jing's mother was already so angry she couldn't speak. Lu Jing's father was
much calmer, but no less furious. Because of one Wu Lingling, the Lu family had
been disgraced to this extent.
Qin
Ruolan and Wu Jun were Wu Lingling's biological parents. Just moments earlier,
they had been proudly boasting to everyone around them that Wu Lingling was
their daughter, saying how difficult it had been to raise her into such a fine
woman and how she had finally found a good home.
Every
word they spoke had been filled with praise for Wu Lingling and bragging to
others.
Especially
after the Tang family arrived, Qin Ruolan had deliberately made comments in
front of them, saying that studying too much was useless if one still couldn't
marry into a wealthy family.
Look
at her Lingling—so capable and so insightful, choosing perfectly with a single
try.
The
prouder Qin Ruolan had been earlier, the more humiliated she felt now.
Wasn't
Wu Lingling an uneducated delinquent who hadn't even finished middle school? Of
course she knew that.
If
Wu Lingling hadn't been marrying into the Lu family, she wouldn't have been
eager to acknowledge this daughter in the first place.
For
all these years, she had held her head low. Now that Wu Lingling was marrying
into a wealthy family, she had finally been able to stand tall and breathe out
the resentment she had bottled up.
Who
could have imagined that not only had she failed to vent her frustrations, but
she had instead lost face in front of so many people?
Those
explicit photographs felt as though they had nailed their entire family to a
pillar of shame.
It
had even been Qin Ruolan who suggested inviting the Tang family.
After what happened today, forget holding her head high in front of Mother Tang—even among anyone who knew her, she would never again be able to raise her head.
