Chapter 1439: The Blackened Good Girl (74)
“The wedding of a young master of the Lu family… doesn’t seem quite like what we imagined.”
The younger members of the Tang family whispered among themselves. The Lu family was undeniably wealthy. They had attended another Lu family young master’s wedding before. That event had been magnificent and extravagant. The procession had been made up entirely of luxury cars worth over five million each, an impressive display of wealth.
But Wu Lingling and Lu Jing’s wedding setup seemed only slightly grander than that of an ordinary rich family.
In truth, the one feeling the most surprise—and dissatisfaction—was Wu Lingling herself.
She had attended the wedding of the Lu family heir with Lu Jing before.
Ever since then, she had dreamed of having a wedding just as luxurious and breathtaking.
That was why she had sent invitations to the Tang family members she had not contacted for years, even inviting Tang Guo herself.
She wanted everyone to see just how well she was living now.
But the reality was nothing like what she had imagined.
Especially with the Tang family standing there together, and Tang Guo and Qiao Ge in particular, who drew far more attention than she and Lu Jing did.
She had not attended Tang Guo and Qiao Ge’s wedding, only heard that it had been held on a grand scale and even made the news.
Thinking about this made her furious.
As a result, the bride wore a cold face throughout the entire ceremony, leaving the guests utterly speechless.
Lu Jing’s mother had never liked Wu Lingling.
Had Lu Jing not insisted on marrying her, refusing to change his mind no matter what, she would certainly have opposed it.
But Lu Jing loved her so much. As a mother, how could she bear to cut away the person her son cherished?
Thus, she endured Wu Lingling entering the family.
But seeing Wu Lingling putting on such a face during the wedding made her so angry that her face turned pale.
As for Father Lu, he had only come out of consideration for Lu Jing’s mother.
He had long since given up on this son.
The wedding was neither shabby nor particularly grand, merely average.
Still, many people had attended. Most had come because of the Lu family. No matter what, Lu Jing was still the son of Father Lu’s most beloved woman, and they were willing to give him that much face.
No one expected a major incident to occur at the wedding.
Even Tang Guo hadn’t anticipated that certain retributions would arrive so quickly.
As the ceremony was nearing its end, the emcee announced that they would now play a slideshow chronicling the moments Wu Lingling and Lu Jing had shared before marriage.
Simply put, it consisted of photographs documenting their lives together.
At many weddings, couples would play such photos to commemorate the growth of their love.
Everyone was curious. How had Wu Lingling, a delinquent girl who hadn’t even graduated middle school, managed to marry Lu Jing?
Even if Lu Jing’s talents appeared mediocre, and people regarded him as someone merely drifting through life, he was still a young master of the Lu family—a man who would never run out of money.
Everyone fixed their eyes on the screen.
Quite a few women present looked particularly interested.
When the first photo appeared, the hall erupted.
Not a single person looked away.
All eyes were glued to the screen.
The pictures played in slideshow format, appearing one after another and fading away in turn.
Wu Lingling and Lu Jing stood facing the audience. Seeing the guests’ shocked and incredulous expressions, they mistakenly thought everyone was astonished by the way they usually interacted.
Without realizing it, smiles spread across their faces.
Wu Lingling even glanced toward Tang Guo’s seat, looking smug.
Even now, she still had no idea of Qiao Ge’s true identity.
She thought that after graduating from a prestigious university, Tang Guo had chosen to marry nothing more than an ordinary school doctor, something she had secretly mocked for a very long time.
