Chapter 1391: The Blackened Good Girl (26)
Because her family had helped Wu Lingling's family too many times, Wu Lingling had come to believe that whenever something happened, turning to them would always solve the problem.
And once they couldn't help, or were delayed for some reason, it became their fault.
Back then, Tang Guo's parents had instructed her to look after Wu Lingling.
Wu Lingling had actually borrowed money from Tang Guo quite often. Remembering Mother Tang's words—that their family wasn't lacking that little bit of money—the original host had simply lent it to her.
She didn't like talking to Wu Lingling much, so she found it easier to use money to send her away.
That was also why, whenever money was involved, Wu Lingling's first instinct was to call her.
At lunchtime, while everyone was discussing problems, a pleasant voice suddenly sounded from outside the classroom.
“Excuse me, is Tang Guo in this class?”
Hearing the familiar voice, Tang Guo looked up and saw the tall young man standing at the door.
System: Hmph. He actually came looking for you. This guy is like chewing gum. The moment he runs into Host, his whole persona collapses.
“Tang Guo, someone's looking for you.”
Tang Guo stood up and walked to the door, smiling sweetly. “Big Brother, what can I do for you?”
Big Brother?
Well, Tang Guo was petite and slender, while Qiao Ge stood over six feet tall. Standing before her, he practically blocked out all the light.
Snapped out of his daze by that soft and sweet "Big Brother," Qiao Ge smiled at her. “Little Sister, did you report a lost phone? Take a look and see if this one is yours.”
Qiao Ge took out the phone Tang Guo had thrown into the ditch yesterday. He had already cleaned it thoroughly.
Unfortunately, because it had gotten wet, it was broken and couldn't be turned on.
As for whether she repaired it or bought a new one, that had nothing to do with him.
Still, the image of her throwing away the phone had left a deep impression on his mind.
“Little Sister, is this your phone?” he asked again, making no mention of their encounter yesterday.
A clean smile appeared on Tang Guo's face. “It's mine. Big Brother, thank you for specially bringing it back after finding it.”
“No need to thank me. Returning lost property to its rightful owner is one of our nation's traditional virtues. Everyone should learn from it.” Qiao Ge was naturally handsome and sunny, his smile bright and gentle. Talking to him always felt like standing beneath a warm little sun.
The classmates watching nearby couldn't help feeling a sense of admiration. They all thought that preserving such fine virtues was indeed important.
“Although, I found it in a ditch, so it might be broken.”
Taking the phone from him, Tang Guo said gratefully, “It's alright. Once I take it home and get it repaired, it'll still be usable.” There wasn't a trace of anything strange on her face, as though their meeting yesterday had been nothing more than a dream that had never actually happened.
“Well then, Little Sister, I'll be going.”
“Take care, Big Brother. Oh, by the way, what's your name?”
Without thinking, Qiao Ge answered, “My name is Qiao Ge. I'm the new school doctor.” Then he quickly stopped himself. He had almost added, If you're sick or injured, come find me. I guarantee you'll recover immediately.
Fortunately, he caught himself in time.
Wouldn't that be like cursing her to get sick?
This little girl looked so clean and fair, and rather delicate too. With such a frail frame, she'd better never get sick.
He didn't know what was wrong with him, but whenever he talked to this strange girl, he couldn't seem to stop himself. It felt as though he wanted to reveal everything about himself.
The moment that thought occurred to him, Qiao Ge hurriedly said goodbye and left.
Too strange.
He needed to go back and clear his head.
