Chapter 1390: The Blackened Good Girl (25)

“Alright, Tang Guo, just focus on studying. If that shameless girl comes running into our class again, we'll throw her out for you,” the class queen said with a smile.

“Oh right, are you free at lunch? There are a few math problems I want to ask you about.”

“Sure. I'll come back to the classroom after eating. You're welcome to discuss them with me anytime.”

The class queen sat in front of Tang Guo. Turning around, she said, “The way your cousin looks at you is kind of strange. You should be careful. Why don't you eat lunch with us?”

“Okay.”

“You're too soft-hearted. Even if she's your cousin, you can't keep giving in to her.” The class queen sighed. “Forget it. With your skinny arms and gentle personality, I doubt you could argue with her anyway. If anyone gives you trouble in the future, just tell the class.”

“Then thank you all.”

“Don't mention it. We've learned a lot from you recently with all those problems we didn't understand in class.”

The class queen was actually a pretty decent person.

The reason she had become the class queen was because she had often been bullied in the past and had been forced to become tough.

Her dream was simple and bright—she wanted to get into a good university. Her family wasn't well-off, so she could only rely on hard work and studying to change her fate.

The people she admired most were those with excellent grades.

After the last class of the morning, the class queen indeed brought Tang Guo to the cafeteria and even politely offered to get her food.

Tang Guo handed her meal card over, but she immediately refused.

“No need.”

“Use mine,” Tang Guo whispered. “I feel like something's wrong with my cousin. If she really starts bothering me every day, I'll have to trouble you all.”

“Alright then, I won't be polite.” The class queen's family circumstances really weren't good.

Knowing Tang Guo didn't lack this little bit of money and that she had personally asked for help, she silently decided that from now on, she would take responsibility for Tang Guo's safety at school.

Not long after Tang Guo sat down, Wu Lingling appeared.

The moment she spotted Tang Guo, the hatred in her eyes was completely undisguised.

“I don't know what happened yesterday, but Lingling hates me so much. I only lost my phone. I never expected she'd have an urgent call for me.”

Hearing this, the class queen frowned. “Why bother thinking so much? Whatever happened, it's not your fault. If something huge happened, she brought it on herself. Just because your phone was lost and you didn't answer, she gets into trouble and blames you? You're not her mother. If an underage student has problems, that's her parents' responsibility. As her cousin, you've already done more than enough.”

“Really?”

“Really. Hurry up and eat. It's not your fault, and your phone still hasn't been found, right? Once we're done eating, let's go back to the classroom and discuss those problems. Stay away from that ungrateful cousin of yours.”

The class queen felt that their top student was simply too kind.

They had to keep an eye on her, otherwise she might end up being bullied by a delinquent tyrant like Wu Lingling.

She had heard that Tang Guo's family had helped Wu Lingling's family a lot.

System: Host acting like a white lotus is way too convincing. Damn, she's so infuriating.

Throughout lunch, Tang Guo could constantly feel Wu Lingling's hate-filled gaze fixed on her.

Actually, she wanted to laugh.

See?

If she'd answered the call, she would have suffered.

By not answering, Wu Lingling suffered instead, and yet Wu Lingling still placed all the blame on her.

This was exactly what people meant by, “A small favor earns gratitude, but too much kindness breeds resentment.”
