Chapter 1374: The Blackened Good Girl (9)

Wu Lingling watched helplessly as Tang Guo smiled and bid her farewell before turning and leaving.

Her chest felt tight with anger.

Wasn't it just a bit of money? Aunt had been the one forcing it on her anyway. Did they really think she cared?

“Lingling, is your family really as poor as your cousin said?” one of the girls beside her asked.

They sized up Wu Lingling's clothes. Though her outfit looked unconventional, it wasn't cheap.

For ordinary students, a set of summer clothes with shoes would cost at most three hundred yuan.

But what Wu Lingling was wearing cost over a thousand.

She had always spent money freely and had never mentioned her family's circumstances to them. They had assumed her family was wealthy.

“It's not that bad,” Wu Lingling said, her face heating up. “Their family is just too rich. My mom is simply too hardworking. One job pays well enough, but she insists on doing two. She's reluctant to spend money on herself because she's used to living that way.”

“So that's how it is.”

The girls didn't pay much attention to such matters. They simply dragged the gloomy Wu Lingling into school.

Meanwhile, Tang Guo was feeling exceptionally refreshed.

High school courses were child's play to her.

She performed flawlessly, and both her classmates and teachers noticed that she seemed to have become even more outstanding.

Everyone greeted Tang Guo with smiles.

Seeing her obedient and gentle demeanor, they unconsciously lowered their voices, afraid of disturbing her.

No matter who approached her with difficult questions, she patiently explained everything.

Good heavens.

She was practically an angel in their eyes.

The system, however, felt uneasy.

Host was unconsciously releasing an aura that made souls feel close to her. Was she planning to make everyone hopelessly enchanted?

What exactly was Host trying to do?

All morning, the system was on edge.

Everyone who interacted with Tang Guo liked her immensely.

They all felt she was an angel. In front of her, everyone became exceptionally polite.

Wherever she went, she was loved. If her charm had a visible form, one could probably see it enveloping the entire classroom.

Only during lunch did the system cautiously ask, “Host, what are you doing?”

“Becoming a perfect person.”

Really?

During lunch, Tang Guo also ran into Wu Lingling in the cafeteria.

The latter's expression immediately changed upon seeing her.

Tang Guo smiled softly and greeted her. “Lingling, you're eating in the cafeteria too?”

Normally, Wu Lingling spent her lunches at restaurants outside the school, always taking her friends with her to eat good food.

But because of Tang Guo's appearance that morning, she had lost a source of income.

She still had some pride. She couldn't shamelessly ask Mother Tang for money.

Besides, if she accepted Mother Tang's money, she would never be able to hold her head high in front of Tang Guo.

She refused to be looked down upon by such a rigid, obedient girl.

“Can't I eat in the cafeteria?” Wu Lingling snapped unhappily.

Tang Guo smiled faintly. “Of course you can. It's just that you're usually eating at those little restaurants outside, so I thought you'd go there today too. Would you like to join us?”

“No. I'm eating with my classmates.”

“Alright.”

No matter how bad Wu Lingling's attitude was, Tang Guo remained gentle and pleasant.

Everyone already liked Tang Guo.

Seeing Wu Lingling being so rude, they instinctively developed a dislike for her.
