Chapter 1354: The Mermaid Princess (53)
“Why seal the Divine Heart?” Qiao Chen asked cautiously.
“So you won't be protected by its power while dying of thirst.” Tang Guo answered patiently. “As long as the Divine Heart exists, you won't die of thirst anytime soon. Without it, you'll only need a few days.”
“What? You don't want to?” Seeing his hesitation, Tang Guo asked, “Don't tell me you don't love me after all, and everything you just said was a lie?”
“No, A'Guoguo, I love you.”
“Then let me seal the Divine Heart. That way, you can die of thirst for me.”
Qiao Chen nodded. “Alright.”
Tang Guo smiled. “Looks like you really do love me.”
Qiao Chen's heart leapt with joy. He believed Tang Guo couldn't bear to see him die of thirst. Once she witnessed his sincerity, she would surely soften her heart, share her life with him, and agree to stay with him forever.
Tang Guo sealed the Divine Heart, leaving Qiao Chen unable to use any divine power.
Looking at him indifferently, she said, “Now, let's go somewhere else. Somewhere with only the two of us. I want to personally watch you die of thirst before my eyes.”
Hearing that it would be a place with only the two of them, Qiao Chen had no desire to think too deeply.
In his mind, A'Guoguo had always been kind, innocent, and adorable. How could she truly let him die of thirst?
This had to be a test.
As long as he accepted the test and passed it, they would be together.
Hadn't he come back after being reborn to change the fate between himself and A'Guoguo?
She was his little mermaid.
She should have received his love.
They were meant to be together.
Tang Guo led Qiao Chen far away from the tents, to an especially scorching area of the desert.
Pointing toward an empty patch of sand, she said, “Qiao Chen, stand over there. I want to sit here and watch you die of thirst.”
“A'Guoguo, since this is what you want, then I'll die for you.” Qiao Chen still didn't believe that A'Guoguo could truly bear to let him die.
The Divine Heart had already been sealed. If she really wanted him dead, why didn't she simply kill him?
Why insist on using this method?
Clearly, she was only angry.
She claimed she hadn't loved him in the previous life, but if she truly didn't love him, why had she explained herself to him so many times?
So A'Guoguo loved him.
She was merely angry and wanted to see him suffer.
She was still the kind and pure mermaid.
She was soft-hearted.
Once she saw his pain, she would surely forgive what he had done in the previous life. After all, those things had not happened in this life.
And so Qiao Chen stood in the desert beneath the blazing sun.
His mind was filled with thoughts of the happy life he and Tang Guo would have together.
Tang Guo found a comfortable spot, spread out a mat, rested her chin on her hand, and watched as Qiao Chen grew dizzy under the scorching sun.
Before long, his face was flushed red, his head was spinning, and sweat streamed down his cheeks, falling drop by drop onto the barren sands.
Forcing his eyes open, he saw Tang Guo looking directly at him. Gritting his teeth, he continued to endure.
Host, are you really planning to let him die of thirst? The System wasn't sympathizing with Qiao Chen; it was merely curious.
Tang Guo's lips curved upward.
“Didn't he say he loved me? My anger hasn't subsided yet. He wants to prove his love for me and dispel my resentment in this way. Is there anything wrong with that?”
