Chapter 1303: The Mermaid Princess (2)
Later, A Guoguo became curious about the human world and wanted to experience school for herself. Unexpectedly, that was where she encountered Fuya and Qiao Chen.
Seeing Qiao Chen again, she happily went over to greet him, only to find him cold and distant. He didn't even give her a chance to speak.
She truly had no ulterior motives. She simply wanted to see the human she had once saved.
Afraid that her impersonation would be exposed, Fuya told Qiao Chen that A Guoguo was one of her kind, a mermaid who was full of lies.
From then on, no matter what A Guoguo said, Qiao Chen refused to believe her. Since she knew little about the human world and because Qiao Chen deliberately singled her out, life became particularly difficult for her.
Yet she still wanted to explain everything clearly. Unfortunately, both Fuya and Qiao Chen thought that this mermaid was trying to seduce him.
As a result, Qiao Chen grew even more disgusted with her.
Every time she saw him, A Guoguo would tell him that she had been the one who saved him before, but not only did he refuse to believe her, he became convinced that this ugly mermaid was trying to entice him.
Fuya, meanwhile, lived in constant fear that the truth would come to light. She became restless day after day and lost a great deal of weight.
Unable to bear seeing his little mermaid suffer, Qiao Chen decided that A Guoguo's existence was the source of her unhappiness.
So he asked Fuya about the weaknesses of mermaids. Such things were secrets among the merfolk and had always been strictly forbidden to share with humans.
But Fuya loved Qiao Chen too much.
And so she told him.
The secret of mermaids was that if they remained away from water for too long, they would eventually die of thirst.
The higher their rank and the stronger their divine power, the longer they could endure.
In order to eliminate future trouble once and for all, Qiao Chen pretended that he was willing to listen to A Guoguo's explanation and brought her to a place where there was no water. Following the weakness Fuya had revealed, he stayed with A Guoguo there for three or four days. After watching her complexion turn deathly pale, he chained her to a tree and left without a backward glance.
By the time the King of the Merfolk found A Guoguo, she was already dead.
Even the brilliance of her golden tail had faded away.
The enraged Sea King vowed to find the murderer and questioned Fuya as well. Fuya had already guessed who had killed A Guoguo.
But she loved Qiao Chen too deeply.
So she concealed the truth.
In the end, the murderer was never found, and the matter gradually faded away. Fuya and Qiao Chen married and remained together, while she stayed in the human world forever.
System said, “Host, as far as I know, this is a fascinating world. The Sea Race doesn't only consist of merfolk. There are many other races too, and they all love coming ashore to have fun. Maybe among the crowds, someone who looks completely ordinary is actually a member of the Sea Race.”
“That sounds pretty interesting.” After reviewing the plot, Tang Guo remained completely unmoved. “As for this world, I won't be following the storyline.”
Host, what do you mean?
“That Qiao Chen fellow? I have no interest in saving him. Let him drown. Once he's dead, everything will be settled. Why save him? I refuse to forgive a fish murderer.”
System: “...A fish... fish murderer?”
Watching his host happily play with her tail in the water, he suddenly felt a bit afraid. What if the host became curious about what mermaid meat tasted like and cooked herself to try it?
“Host, won't you give him a chance to repent?”
“I don't think he would change at all,” Tang Guo answered matter-of-factly. “In the end, he'd still kill fish. I don't want to waste time with him. Better to let him die on that rock or get swept away by the sea and drown.”
With that, Tang Guo plunged into the ocean to play.
As the golden tail swayed beneath the water, it gleamed with breathtaking beauty.
