Chapter 1294: The Fool’s Daughter (73)

No matter how wonderful the place was, they couldn't bring themselves to feel happy. All they felt was a crushing heaviness and unbearable sorrow.

“Dad, Mom, I'll have someone bring your luggage over later. Actually, all the daily necessities are already prepared here, so you don't need to worry about food, clothing, or housing. If you need anything, just ask the staff. They're very professional. Whatever service you need, they can provide it. And if you want to go somewhere, you only need to register.”

The two nodded and raised no objections.

Their living quarters were practically a suite. Two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. For just the two of them, it was spacious enough.

In fact, it was better than the house they used to own.

There was even a market nearby. The surroundings were beautiful and lively, with a scenic area right next door. It was truly an excellent place.

Yet their hearts remained unbearably heavy.

Seeing that everything had been settled, Tang Guo greeted them and prepared to leave.

“Xiaoguo, will you come by occasionally?”

“Dad, Mom, you're free to go wherever you want. Just treat this place as your own home. It's the same.”

Which meant…

She wouldn't really come very often?

“If you run into any problems, just ask the staff. They're all very capable, and they offer every service you could possibly need.”

Song Jinghua looked at Yuan Shuo standing nearby and asked, “Is this your boyfriend?”

“Yes.” Tang Guo nodded. “Yuan Shuo.”

Song Jinghua hurriedly praised him. “He's very spirited, a fine young man.”

No matter what kind of person he was, as long as her daughter liked him, that was enough. Judging by how he had personally come to pick them up today, he clearly cared deeply for Xiaoguo.

Did she have any right to interfere?

Song Jinghua's heart ached.

She had no such right.

“When are you getting married?” Tang Lide asked. “You have to let us know when the time comes.”

“Of course. The parents will certainly be present at the wedding.”

That answer alone satisfied them.

They had no right to ask for anything else, but they still wanted to witness their daughter's wedding.

The couple stood there pitifully, their expressions cautious and hopeful.

Tang Guo remained unmoved.

She had said it long ago.

Even if they had repented, she only bore the responsibility of supporting them. There was no familial affection left.

Everyone makes mistakes.

And those who make mistakes must bear the consequences.

Some things, once done, are done.

The wounds they caused already existed.

And they could never be undone.

“Then we'll be leaving.”

The two followed them outside, watching Yuan Shuo lead Tang Guo away hand in hand.

Seeing the two young people chatting and laughing together eased the burden in their hearts.

“You've just moved in, haven't you?”

An elderly couple from next door came out with cheerful smiles.

“Do you have a daughter or a son? How many children?”

“A daughter,” Tang Lide answered. “Just one.”

“Tsk, then your daughter must be an exceptionally capable young lady. Living here costs at least ten or twenty thousand yuan per person each month. When my old partner and I first heard the price, we were frightened. My husband even insisted on moving out, but our two sons persuaded him otherwise.”

“They said they were too busy with work and had to fly all over the world. There would always be times they couldn't take care of us personally.”

“They said this place was wonderful and could provide proper care. If we refused to stay here, they wouldn't be able to focus on their work without worrying.”

“When my old man heard that, he stopped making a fuss. We've been here for four or five years now, and honestly, it's even more comfortable than home. Everything is prepared for us, and nobody comes around to disturb us.”

“Your daughter must be very filial. You must have a wonderful relationship. I imagine you spoiled and cherished her when she was little, which is why she's willing to spend so much on you.”

“And judging by the fact that you've been assigned one of the two-bedroom suites on this floor, you're staying in one of the premium residences here.”
