Chapter 1288: The Fool’s Daughter (67)

“Big Brother, when do you think you'll be able to repay the money you owe me? Since I've had some free time lately, I sat down and calculated everything your family has borrowed from me over the years. I'm not counting the little things I willingly gave you as gifts. After adding it all up, you owe me two million three hundred thousand yuan.”

“Lide, what did you say?” Tang Liping could hardly believe what he was hearing over the phone. Tang Lide was actually asking him for money???

“Big Brother, I'll say it one more time. Repay the debt.” During the past few days in the hospital, Tang Lide had thought about many things.

Ever since that day, Tang Guo had come every day.

Though she instructed the hospital staff to take care of them and ordered food deliveries on time for every meal, her attitude toward them remained cold.

Just as she had said, all she felt toward them was the obligation to support them.

Tang Lide felt miserable. Lying on the hospital bed, he thought back on most of his life and couldn't help wanting to slap himself.

How many foolish things had he done in this lifetime?

“Lide, you know that I…”

“Big Brother, debts should be repaid—that's only natural. Your family has two houses. Selling just one of them would be enough to clear everything. Though we're brothers, even brothers should keep accounts clear.”

“Lide, let's talk another day. I'm busy right now.”

The call was hung up.

Tang Lide sat there in a daze, a bitter smile on his lips.

He had already seen through it. His elder brother wasn't the person he had imagined him to be.

He dialed another number. Fortunately, all the money he had lent out had IOUs attached to them. At least he hadn't forgotten the amounts.

“Mom, you finally answered.”

“Jinghua, what is it now? Have you found somewhere to live?”

“We have.”

“That's good, that's good. I already said you'd find a way. How can you come running back to your natal family for help every time something happens? A married daughter bringing her husband back to live with her parents—what kind of appearance is that?”

“Mom, when are you going to repay the money you owe me? I've calculated it. Excluding the money I gave you willingly, you've borrowed a total of eight hundred thousand yuan from me.”

“No money, no money! Jinghua, honestly, bringing up repayment at a time like this—are you trying to kill me? Have you fallen into a pit of money or something?”

Old Madam Song sounded furious and immediately hung up.

Song Jinghua then called her elder sister, Song Zhenqiu.

“Big Sister, I'm calling to collect my debt. When are you going to repay the seventeen hundred thousand you owe me?”

“Second Sister, my family…”

“Big Sister, every family has difficulties. I'm facing difficulties now too. Asking you to repay your debt is only natural.”

“Jinghua, saying things like that really hurts the bond between us sisters.”

“Big Sister, I'm suffering right now, and your refusal to repay my money hurts our sisterly bond just as much.”

“Second Sister, let's talk another day. I'm busy right now… beep, beep, beep…”

The husband and wife spent the entire morning calling everyone who owed them money.

Even the two aunties in the neighboring beds could barely stand listening.

“Just look at the people you've been helping, sister. Every single one acts like they're some sort of lord. Yet you used to treasure them like jewels.”

Seeing Tang Lide and Song Jinghua sitting there in silence, looking pained, they said nothing more.

Naturally, Tang Guo knew all about this.

System asked, Host, they really do seem to have repented.

“So what?”

System: Alright, so what? Anyway, you don't have any familial affection toward them anymore.

Living in the finest retirement home...

Those two would probably suffer there far more than they had expected.
