Chapter 1245: The Fool's Daughter (24)

"Handsome guy, what's your name? Where do you work?" Tang Mengmeng's gaze drifted to the brand-new Maybach again, her eyes shining even brighter. Judging by the way she looked, she was only one step away from throwing herself at Yuan Shuo.

Yuan Shuo was genuinely startled by that gaze. Still, since she had asked, it would be rude not to answer.

"My name is Yuan Shuo. Miss Tang and I are friends."

"Oh..." Tang Mengmeng nodded, but her eyes remained fixed on him, clearly saying, You haven't finished introducing yourself. "Nice car you've got."

The corner of Yuan Shuo's mouth twitched. Just what kind of people did the Tang family produce?

At that moment, Tang Guo suddenly spoke. "Brother Yuan, are you waiting for your boss? Your boss has good taste in cars. By the way, could you give me a ride?"

Yuan Shuo instantly caught on. "I'm not waiting for my boss today. He's taking me out to discuss business tomorrow and told me to pick him up early, so he asked me to drive the car home and head over first thing in the morning."

Even as he spoke, he was still savoring that "Brother Yuan." Just hearing her call him that made his entire body melt. If only she would say it one more time...

"Since we're headed in the same direction anyway, I can give you a ride."

Tang Guo smiled and noticed the fervor in Tang Mengmeng's eyes recede considerably. She introduced him, "This is Yuan Shuo, a friend I happened to meet by chance. Actually, the way we met was pretty dramatic."

"How did you meet, Sister Xiaoguo?" Though Tang Mengmeng's enthusiasm had faded, Yuan Shuo's appearance was still incredibly attractive to her.

If his job wasn't bad, she might still consider him.

Tang Guo's lips curled upward. "The reason we met was because he stopped me to sell insurance."

In... insurance?

An insurance salesman?

These days, the moment people heard someone sold insurance, their impression of them dropped by three points.

The fascination in Tang Mengmeng's eyes vanished instantly.

She liked handsome men, but not handsome insurance salesmen. It was the kind of profession that offended people and annoyed everyone. Thinking of a few of her classmates who worked in insurance, she unconsciously looked down on Yuan Shuo.

With her looks, finding a handsome boyfriend wouldn't be difficult.

An insurance salesman?

Forget it.

The car belonged to his boss anyway. He looked decent enough, but he had almost fooled her too.

The more she thought about it, the more embarrassed and annoyed she became. She had nearly made a fool of herself. And Sister Xiaoguo was partly to blame—why hadn't she introduced him properly from the start?

"Dreamy, do you want to ride back with Brother Yuan?" Tang Guo invited warmly, looking as though she too was excited about riding in a luxury car.

Tang Mengmeng sneered inwardly. It wasn't even the insurance guy's car, yet Tang Guo looked so proud, as if it belonged to her. She didn't even bother looking at herself.

Sister Xiaoguo really had terrible taste.

She was actually giving a chance to a man who drove his boss's car around just to show off.

"No, thanks. I suddenly remembered I have something to do. Besides, we're not going the same way, so I'll pass."

With that excuse, Tang Mengmeng left. After her figure disappeared from sight, Tang Guo and Yuan Shuo exchanged a glance and burst out laughing.

As for what they were laughing about, it was enough that they both understood.

"In all my years, this is the first time I've been looked down on so blatantly." Shaking his head, Yuan Shuo opened the car door for Tang Guo. "Miss Tang, your family really is... special."

Tang Guo pressed her lips together in amusement. "There are even more special ones. You'll get used to it. In our family, people in the insurance business are looked down upon. To them, insurance salesmen are just swindlers trying to cheat them out of their hard-earned money."
