Chapter 1243: The Fool's Daughter (22)
When Tang Guo returned home, she found her parents looking as delighted as if they had won the lottery.
She couldn't understand it. They had just lost a hundred thousand yuan, so why were they so happy?
Tang Guo asked whether they had reminded Liu Chunyue to either replace the car or at least send it in for an inspection.
Both of them said they had.
Some time later, Tang Zhiming was discharged from the hospital. All the Tang family relatives gathered together, and Tang Guo saw Tang Liping driving that old car, carrying Tang Zhiming into the vehicle with his own hands.
At once, she understood that Liu Chunyue's family had clearly ignored the warning.
If the car were sent for inspection, its problems would definitely be discovered. Any mechanic would immediately tell them that it needed to be scrapped. If they kept driving it, an accident was only a matter of time.
She let out a quiet laugh. "Those who bring disaster upon themselves can't blame anyone else."
System: Tough luck.
"I've always thought the car Zhiming bought back then was pretty good." Back at the house, Liu Chunyue said with a smile, "It's been running for so many years without a single problem. Things made in the old days really had quality. Unlike things nowadays, which break down at the slightest inconvenience."
Thinking of the car that had been wrecked before and the hundred thousand yuan spent on it made her heart ache.
Fortunately, that hundred thousand had eventually found its way back into their pockets.
"Aunt, have you sent the car in for inspection?" Tang Guo asked with a smile.
Liu Chunyue widened her eyes. "Inspection? What's there to inspect? It's perfectly fine. Things made back then were sturdy as anything. No problems at all. Xiaoguo, setting everything else aside, Zhiming definitely has better taste in cars than you. Just look at that car you bought before. One little crash and it was wrecked. It couldn't take any punishment at all."
Tang Guo: "..."
System: "..."
Impressive.
One little crash?
Was that really just a little bump?
"No matter what, cars should still be inspected regularly."
That was all Tang Guo said. Naturally, Liu Chunyue immediately shot back with several retorts, and Tang Guo eventually stopped speaking.
Not long afterward, Liu Chunyue ignored Tang Guo completely. The entire family sat around the living room chatting and laughing, with the conversation revolving almost entirely around Liu Chunyue's household. Tang Lide and Song Jinghua sat off to one side, occasionally managing to squeeze in a sentence or two.
"Sister Xiaoguo, I really don't understand you. Selling the car to Brother Zhiming? He's always driven like a madman. Now that something happened, it's no wonder he came after you."
Tang Mengmeng sat beside Tang Guo, lazily chewing gum and speaking in a low voice. "I heard Second Uncle and Second Aunt lent their family five hundred thousand yuan? Your family must be really rich. They paid all the medical expenses, and then they even handed over another hundred thousand afterward. They must have prepared quite a dowry for you, right?"
"To tell you the truth, I probably won't get a single cent in dowry," Tang Guo replied quietly. "How my parents spend their money isn't something I can control."
"How can that be, Sister Xiaoguo? I'm not trying to criticize you, but Second Uncle and Second Aunt only have one daughter—you. Once they get old, won't everything they own belong to you? You'll be the one responsible for taking care of them. If they give everything away to other people now, the burden you'll have to carry in the future will be enormous."
Tang Mengmeng had always thought her Second Uncle and Second Aunt were complete fools.
No, not just fools.
Instead of treating their own daughter well, they insisted on helping everyone else. Take Tang Zhiming, for example. They had practically waited on him hand and foot, while Liu Chunyue sat comfortably by the side doing nothing.
If she were Tang Guo, she would have exploded long ago.
