Chapter 1237: The Fool's Daughter (16)
Tang Lide thought the same way.
Though
he valued the bonds between brothers and sisters, he still believed that Tang
Guo would never do something as vicious as taking someone's life.
Both
he and Song Jinghua thought that if they endured it for a while, things would
eventually pass.
After
all, everyone was reasonable people who didn't want to damage family
relationships.
Once
this matter blew over, they would help Tang Zhiming out a bit more, and that
would be the end of it.
Even
if Tang Zhiming had become disabled, they would never abandon him.
But
what they hadn't expected was that Liu Chunyue refused to let it go. She
insisted they give her an explanation—an explanation for how Tang Guo had
supposedly harmed Tang Zhiming.
They
were still in the hospital. With her loud crying and ugly words, even people
who knew nothing about the matter began looking at Tang Guo strangely.
At
last, Song Jinghua tried to defend her daughter.
“Sister-in-law,
although Xiaoguo isn't always sensible, there's no way she could do something
so utterly heartless.”
“That's
right, Sister-in-law,” Tang Lide hurriedly added. “How could Xiaoguo do
something like that? You've misunderstood.”
But
Liu Chunyue wouldn't listen.
“When
she was asked to lend the car, she kept refusing and stalling. Then she
suddenly changed her mind and insisted on selling it to Zhiming at a low price.
Not long after, Zhiming gets into an accident. Tell me, isn't that too much of
a coincidence?”
“Isn't
that exactly how things happen in TV dramas? How can there be such a
coincidence? She did it on purpose! Just because she's your daughter doesn't
mean you know what's in her heart. Who knows whether she's black-hearted or
not?”
Tang
Guo finally spoke.
“Auntie,
I sold it cheaply to Cousin because we're relatives.”
“You
wanted to harm Zhiming! You wanted his life!” Liu Chunyue screamed
hysterically. “You couldn't stand seeing him doing well. Otherwise, who would
sell a brand-new car they'd only owned for two months at half its value?”
Tang
Lide shook his head disapprovingly.
“Sister-in-law,
I can guarantee that Xiaoguo never had such thoughts.”
“Besides,
Zhiming had the car for over a month. If there had really been something wrong
with it, wouldn't something have happened long ago? Why would it wait until
now?”
“Big
Brother, say something.”
Seeing
that Liu Chunyue had completely convinced herself that Tang Guo had tampered
with the car and wanted Tang Zhiming dead, Tang Lide anxiously turned to Tang
Liping.
People
nearby had already begun whispering among themselves. Tang Lide cared deeply
about his reputation and naturally couldn't sit still.
Tang
Liping raised his head, a half-smoked cigarette between his fingers.
“Lide,
this matter is hard to say. It's too much of a coincidence. Can you explain why
the accident happened after the car was sold to Zhiming? Chunyue's right. How
could a car worth two hundred thousand yuan be sold to him for only one hundred
thousand? The more I think about it, the more something feels wrong.”
He
looked at Tang Guo with disappointment.
“When
did this child start harboring such hatred toward Zhiming? To think she'd
actually want his life. I truly misjudged her. Zhiming loved this little cousin
so much when they were young. It really wasn't worth it.”
Tang
Lide didn't know how to explain.
No
matter what he said, it seemed impossible to convince anyone.
All
the coincidences Tang Liping mentioned—he believed they were simply
coincidences.
Asking
him to believe that his own daughter wanted Tang Zhiming dead?
Impossible.
On
that point, Song Jinghua and Tang Lide were completely united.
They
felt pity and sympathy for Tang Zhiming and were even thinking about helping
him more in the future.
But
as for Tang Guo harming Tang Zhiming—
That
was absolutely impossible.
Seeing
all this, System finally understood why Host had once said that as long as she
was around, Tang Lide and Song Jinghua would never lack food.
She
simply wouldn't give them wealth...
Or
family affection.
