Chapter 1234: The Fool's Daughter (13)

Tang Guo had never expected that a few words from her would be enough to persuade Song Jinghua and Tang Lide to turn back.

In their eyes, the bond between brothers and sisters was the most important thing. Even their own daughter had to come second.

Out of habit, however, she still reminded them every time. At the very least, it would deepen the impression in their minds. Then, when they looked back on the past in the future, they would regret their actions even more.

And if they never reflected?

She had already said it—she would not let them starve to death on the streets.

As for a life of wealth and comfort, that was probably gone.

After all, the entire family fortune would eventually be given away by them.

Thus another month passed, and the day finally arrived when Tang Zhiming would take his girlfriend on their road trip.

Ever since selling him the car, Tang Guo had barely been in contact with him.

That morning, as she prepared to head out, she could still hear her mother muttering prayers that Tang Zhiming's marriage would succeed.

Thinking about everything that was about to happen and wondering what everyone's reactions would be, Tang Guo stood beneath the bus stop sign waiting for the bus.

After all, she had no car now.

She could only take the bus to work.

At that moment, a car stopped not far away. Her phone rang, and three words appeared on the screen:

Insurance Brother.

Smiling, she answered the call. “President Yuan.”

“What are you doing?”

“On my way to work, waiting for the bus,” Tang Guo replied. “Unlike President Yuan, who drives everywhere.”

Yuan Shuo: “...”

What he really wanted to ask was, Hadn't she been the one who said they should keep in touch?

He had mentally prepared himself for her endless calls bothering him.

Yet over the past month, she hadn't called him once.

Not a single message either.

He felt this woman was poisonous.

He actually found himself wondering every day when she would call and chat about becoming friends and borrowing money to buy insurance.

As usual, he'd driven to work that morning. By chance, he happened to glance outside and spotted her standing beneath the bus stop sign.

His hand had betrayed him and dialed her number.

Since he'd already called, hanging up would be even stranger.

“How about I give you a ride?” Yuan Shuo blurted out.

The moment he said it, he wanted to slap himself.

Wasn't this just helping her get closer to him, become friends, and eventually borrow money to buy insurance?

“Sure!” Tang Guo answered immediately. “President Yuan, are you nearby?”

“Yes.”

After Yuan Shuo gave her his location, Tang Guo found him and greeted him cheerfully.

“President Yuan, what a coincidence. You're such a good person. Being friends with you must be wonderful.”

“President Yuan, do you have a girlfriend?”

Yuan Shuo answered awkwardly, “No.”

Why was she asking?

Could it be she wanted to become his girlfriend so she could buy insurance without spending money?

“That's good.”

Tang Guo sat directly in the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt.

“I heard that you shouldn't sit in the passenger seat of a man who already has a girlfriend. It would hurt their relationship.”

“Miss Tang, you're quite sensible.” Yuan Shuo cleared his throat. “If I had a girlfriend, I wouldn't have picked you up. Once you're in a relationship, you should maintain a safe distance from the opposite sex. You shouldn't leave even the slightest opening. If I had a girlfriend, I'd have pretended not to see you and driven right past.”

Tang Guo smiled brightly.

“President Yuan is truly a principled man.”

“Oh, right, President Yuan. If you had a girlfriend, would insurance still cost money?”

Yuan Shuo nearly lost his grip on the steering wheel.

He quickly replied, “It costs money. It all costs money. Business is business.”
