Chapter 1134: The Princess Consort Whose Memories Were Altered (9)
“I understand. You may leave.”
After covering himself with the quilt, Shangguan Jing indeed found the silk quilt incomparably comfortable. It was light and warm without feeling heavy at all, far superior to the one he had used before.
That woman was rigid and overly proper, but she truly excelled at things like this.
Before drifting to sleep, he thought that although she was rather boring, she wasn't entirely without merit.
Of course, he wasn't going to change his mind because of these things. Dislike was dislike. Nothing she did would change that.
Still, for the sake of all her efforts, he would not treat her poorly while she lived in Prince Jing's Manor.
The next morning, while the servants were helping him put on his shoes and socks, Shangguan Jing suddenly noticed a tiny mark embroidered on the sock.
“What is this?”
Not only was it not ugly, but that small mark actually added a touch of liveliness to the otherwise ordinary pair of socks.
Glancing at the edge of his shoes, he discovered the same mark there as well.
It resembled an exquisite totem. Looking closely, he was startled to realize that it had been formed from the character “Jing.”
For a brief moment, he was astonished.
The design was truly ingenious.
He suddenly thought of the woman he had encountered in the garden yesterday.
That image of her—rigid, proper, and somewhat dull—instantly appeared in his mind.
“Replying to Your Highness, these were all made personally by the Princess Consort. She said the previous shoes and socks weren't comfortable enough, so from now on, all of Your Highness's clothes, shoes, and socks will be made by her.”
As the servant helped him dress, he answered respectfully.
Inwardly, the servants couldn't help sighing in admiration. Although the Princess Consort had only been in the manor for half a year, she had already organized everything flawlessly.
Every matter had been arranged properly. With such a mistress managing the household, the chaos of the past was gone. Under her reasonable allocation of work, tasks could be completed quickly, making life much easier than before.
And if someone performed well, the Princess Consort would reward them.
Everyone's efforts were recognized.
With the Princess Consort around, Prince Jing's Manor truly felt like a good place.
“What does the Princess Consort usually do?” Shangguan Jing asked curiously.
As he adjusted his sleeves, he noticed the same totem formed from the character “Jing” embroidered on the cuffs.
Seeing it, he chuckled softly.
That woman certainly had an ingenious mind.
“In the mornings, aside from managing the affairs of the manor and making clothes and shoes for Your Highness, the Princess Consort also reviews the accounts of the shops under the manor's name and calculates profits and losses. In the afternoons, she paints and practices calligraphy in the garden. Whenever Your Highness is in the manor, the Princess Consort enters the kitchen punctually to prepare your meals.”
Shangguan Jing was genuinely surprised.
That woman was truly impressive.
How could she accomplish so much in a single day?
“Has she noticed anything about the businesses under the manor?”
“After reviewing the shops, the Princess Consort offered quite a few suggestions. Beginning in the third month, profits increased by more than threefold.”
Shangguan Jing was stunned.
She was that capable?
The managers he employed were already considered talented, and the businesses had always performed quite well among those in the capital.
Yet with only a few ideas from her, profits had multiplied so dramatically.
“There is no court session today. Accompany this prince to inspect the shops.”
“Does Your Highness wish to go together with the Princess Consort? She visits the shops every few days, and today happens to be one of those days.”
“When will she leave?”
“Probably after breakfast.”
“Then this prince will wait a little longer. I won't go with her.” Shangguan Jing's lips curved slightly. “This prince wishes to see just how remarkable she really is.”
