Chapter 1083: The Flash Marriage Heiress (67)
Tang Guo looked at the screen of the phone while Gu Ye tapped play. In the video, Luo Yicheng and Qian Beibei were seated quite far apart. The place was dimly lit and looked like a bar.
Several women were sitting beside Qian Beibei, chatting with her. One of them handed her a drink. The problem lay with that very glass. The camera angle was exceptionally tricky—despite how subtle and secretive the woman's movements had been, they had been captured perfectly.
“Interesting, isn’t it, Miss Tang?” Gu Ye asked with a smile.
“Did Qian Beibei drink it?”
“She did.” Gu Ye narrowed his eyes cheerfully. “That woman had a pretty good relationship with Qian Beibei back in college—or at least they seemed to get along on the surface. With so many people around, how could she possibly think someone would drug her?”
Tang Guo narrowed her eyes slightly. “Who’s behind it?”
“One of Qian Beibei’s admirers. He came back recently and heard that she hadn’t married Luo Yicheng.”
“And then…?”
Gu Ye leaned closer and lowered his voice. “He tried pursuing her, but she rejected him. In the end, he annoyed her so much that she lost her temper and said some harsh things, humiliating him in the process. Naturally, he couldn’t swallow it. So he decided to make something interesting happen at the reunion.”
“I don’t think he’ll succeed.” Gu Ye’s smile carried a trace of slyness. “If Luo Yicheng weren’t here, he might actually pull it off. But with Luo Yicheng around, that guy won’t succeed. Still… if he fails, then doesn’t that leave Luo Yicheng…”
There was no need to finish the sentence. Both of them understood.
Even Gu Ye hadn’t expected this. That man who secretly loved Qian Beibei had suddenly become a godsend.
Truthfully, he found it strange. He had dug up secrets and investigated countless cases before, but he had never encountered a pair like Luo Yicheng and Qian Beibei. It was as though fate was determined to tie the two together. No matter what happened, they always somehow became entangled. They would run into each other by chance, and somehow Luo Yicheng would always discover Qian Beibei’s plight.
At first, he had suspected that Qian Beibei was some sort of schemer and that everything had been carefully arranged by her. Later, however, he realized they were genuinely coincidences.
How strange. It seemed all the coincidences in the world had gathered around these two people.
Tang Guo didn’t find Luo Yicheng’s behavior unreasonable at all. They were the protagonists, after all. Naturally, heaven itself would find ways to push them together.
What they were watching now was a live feed from inside the bar, not the earlier recording.
“Miss Tang, what would you like to drink? Or perhaps something to eat?”
“Bring me some ice cream.”
Gu Ye blinked in surprise. He had never expected this beautiful woman to enjoy ice cream. Yet somehow, that discovery only made him happier. Women who liked sweets seemed even more adorable.
“Then wait here for a moment. I’ll go buy it for you.” He placed his bag on the seat. “I’ll leave my belongings in Miss Tang’s care.”
“Sure.” Resting her chin on one hand, Tang Guo looked at him with amusement. “But if something goes missing, I won’t take responsibility.”
“That’s all right. The bag isn’t important. As long as Miss Tang is still here.”
Having said that, Gu Ye hurried away. A bag? Could that possibly compare to his future wife?
If she were willing to marry him right now, he’d gladly throw away ten bags.
The system felt a little sour. 【Host, this guy sure knows how to sweet-talk. Be careful not to get tricked.】
At this point, he was probably no longer the most important system in his host’s heart.
