Chapter 1067: The Flash Marriage Heiress (51)

When the banquet ended, Gu Ye looked at the check in his hand and felt much better. He even kissed it before happily tucking it into his pocket.

But the moment he saw Tang Guo leaving arm in arm with Luo Yicheng, with everyone praising how perfectly matched the couple looked, his good mood instantly vanished.

Still wearing his gentlemanly smile, he followed the crowd outside. Just as Tang Guo was about to get into the car, he called out, “Miss Tang, if you ever need anything, feel free to come to me.”

“Lawyer Gu, you're too polite. Xiaoguo probably won't have any need for you,” Luo Yicheng said as he opened the car door and helped Tang Guo inside, raising his head to address Gu Ye.

Gu Ye smiled cheerfully. “Not necessarily. I can handle anything. Miss Tang will need me sooner or later.”

To handle her cases, and perhaps to warm her bed as well.

He had saved up enough money already.

All he lacked was a wife.

After saving for so many years and finally finding the woman he wanted to marry, he still couldn't have her. He was really going crazy.

Especially when that scumbag Luo Yicheng occupied the place that should have been his while still entangled with another woman. Just thinking about it made him extremely unhappy.

“Miss Tang, goodbye. If you need anything, make sure you come to me. I may be expensive, but I guarantee you'll be satisfied with my work.”

Luo Yicheng secretly breathed a sigh of relief, convinced that Gu Ye was simply trying to drum up business. This Gu Ye was exactly like the rumors said—completely lacking in character. He truly didn't know how someone like that had managed to survive this long.

Since both had drunk at the banquet, they had called chauffeurs to drive them home.

Mother Luo and Luo Yicheng's elder sister rode in one car, while Tang Guo and Luo Yicheng sat in another.

After the car started moving, Luo Yicheng remembered that Gu Ye had approached Tang Guo twice that evening. Curious about what kind of business he had been trying to promote, he asked, “Xiaoguo, what exactly was Gu Ye trying to sell you? I've heard his reputation isn't very good.”

“Not very good indeed. The rumors about him being stingy are true.”

Hearing her assessment, Luo Yicheng laughed.

“I've heard the same. He's the kind of man who's completely obsessed with money. When he came to see you earlier, what did he say?”

“Him?” Tang Guo chuckled softly. “He asked me when I planned to get divorced. He said if I had such intentions, he could take on my divorce case. He even claimed his efficiency was absolutely top-notch and guaranteed he'd settle everything perfectly.”

The moment he heard that, Luo Yicheng's face darkened.

“Stay away from him in the future. That man is up to no good. Just to make money, he actually encourages people to get divorced and destroy their families.”

“I know,” Tang Guo replied with a faint smile. “But friends in our circle have told me that he's never lost a case. As long as someone can afford his fees, those seeking divorce are always very satisfied with the results.”

“You should still avoid people like him,” Luo Yicheng said naturally. “Besides, we're not getting divorced. Don't listen to his nonsense.”

At that moment, it had never crossed Luo Yicheng's mind that Tang Guo would one day be the one to initiate a divorce.

Because of Tang Guo's evaluation of Gu Ye, he thought nothing more of it.

After knowing her for so many years, he had never imagined that this woman, who had always loved him so deeply, had actually intended from the very beginning to divorce him.

Nor could he imagine that she had quietly arranged so many things during the course of their marriage.

He believed that she had always loved him.

If not for love, why would she have devoted herself so wholeheartedly to supporting his career?
