Chapter 1063: The Flash Marriage Heiress (47)

Niu Jinlan truly hadn't expected that the obedient daughter who had always listened to everything she said since childhood would one day start opposing her.

The anger made her head spin. She cursed a few times outside the restroom, but when she noticed someone entering and giving her strange looks, her face immediately flushed red. Covering her face with her handbag, she hurried inside.

“You ungrateful girl, you money-losing burden! If you don't get married, where are we supposed to find Chengcheng's bride price?”

Seeing that nothing could be accomplished today, Niu Jinlan left the banquet in frustration. She needed to think of a way to make Qian Beibei agree to marry.

Only after she figured her mother had probably left did Qian Beibei come out of the restroom.

As she turned a corner, she saw Luo Yicheng standing in the shadows. Thinking back to everything that had happened, all the grievances and bitterness she had been suppressing surged up at once.

Over the past two years, she had often gone to secretly see him, though opportunities had been few.

Most of the time, she could only catch a distant glimpse. As Luo Yicheng's company grew larger and larger, he was always surrounded by people wherever he went.

She couldn't get close to him. If she tried, she would only attract strange looks.

Ever since the incident at the wedding, she had come to understand one thing—outside, a woman should never damage a man's pride.

Back then, she had been foolish. How had she listened to her mother's words and humiliated Luo Yicheng in public?

Otherwise, they wouldn't have ended up where they were now. Two people who clearly loved each other yet couldn't be together. She was reaching the limit of what she could endure.

“Yicheng, what are you doing here?” Qian Beibei looked at him. Compared to two years ago, this man had become even more captivating.

Luo Yicheng had been there all along.

In fact, he had arrived before Niu Jinlan. He had heard every word exchanged between mother and daughter.

He had thought that after two years, Qian Beibei would have more or less forgotten him. That way, he wouldn't need to deliberately force himself to forget her. Time would naturally wear away his feelings, and he could live peacefully with Tang Guo.

His current life was genuinely good.

He could devote himself entirely to work, while everything at home was managed impeccably by Tang Guo.

Having such an excellent wife was his good fortune. Moreover, his present achievements meant little in Tang Guo's eyes. Setting aside the fact that most of the company's shares belonged to her, she herself was no less busy than he was.

He had long decided that once he forgot Qian Beibei—or once she married someone else—he would wholeheartedly spend his life with Tang Guo and stop dwelling on thoughts that should never have been entertained.

But seeing Qian Beibei again tonight had unleashed the love he had suppressed for two years in a single instant.

Especially when he watched her being introduced to that President Lin. More than once, he nearly rushed over.

In the end, he stopped himself, remembering who he was now.

When he saw Qian Beibei run toward the restroom, he had taken a shortcut and hidden in the corner, intending to ask if she needed help when the opportunity arose.

Instead, he had overheard everything Niu Jinlan said.

Beibei had lived a much harder life these past two years than he had imagined.

“Yicheng, you're such a busy man. What are you doing here?”

Seeing him merely staring at her without saying anything, Qian Beibei asked again. Before he could answer, she continued softly, “Yicheng, two years have already passed. Have you forgotten me?”

Luo Yicheng's mind was still in turmoil. The answer escaped him instinctively.

“No…”

The moment he came back to his senses, regret flashed across his face.

“Beibei,” he said with difficulty, “we can't be together anymore.”
