Chapter 1039: The Flash Marriage Heiress (23)

Qian Beibei's eyes widened. She quickly stifled her sobs and hung up the phone. Staring blankly at her screen, she fell into a daze.

Tang Guo had answered.

Had Yicheng already reached that stage with Tang Guo?

"Yicheng, your phone."

Just as Luo Yicheng emerged from the bathroom, fully dressed, he saw Tang Guo placing his phone back on the coffee table. Her expression was calm as she added, "It's Qian Beibei."

Luo Yicheng froze, his heart skipping a beat. He walked over and picked up the phone, stealing a glance at Tang Guo.

She didn't seem angry at all.

"If you want to call her back, then do it. The feelings between the two of you run too deep. It's impossible to forget each other overnight. Since she called, and neither of you has truly made a final decision yet, it's better to clear things up."

As she spoke, Tang Guo sat to one side and began peeling fruit, showing no signs of displeasure.

Luo Yicheng breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. Right in front of Tang Guo, he called Qian Beibei back.

The moment she saw the incoming call, Qian Beibei answered in a panic. This time, she didn't speak first. She waited until she heard Luo Yicheng call her name before choking out through tears,

"Yicheng..."

"What is it?" Luo Yicheng asked politely.

Hearing such unfamiliar courtesy, half of Qian Beibei's heart went cold.

"I heard from your colleagues that you're going back to your hometown to hold a wedding?"

"That's right."

Luo Yicheng replied calmly.

"My mother has been looking forward to it for a long time. She couldn't attend the city wedding, so she has been waiting for me to come back and hold another ceremony."

In fact, it had been the Qian family who first suggested having two weddings.

They had made it sound nice, saying city customs and country customs were too different.

But in reality, the Qian family simply looked down on rural people.

Luo Yicheng had considered inviting everyone from the village to the city wedding, but with so many people, conflict might arise.

So he discussed it with Mother Luo. Both she and the villagers thought it was a good idea to hold another ceremony back home.

Truthfully, if city people despised them, they weren't particularly fond of mingling with overly refined city folk who looked down on country people either.

Those city people dressed neatly and valued cleanliness. Looking at their rustic clothes, they always seemed to think country folk were dirty. They themselves ate loudly and heartily.

But weddings were supposed to be lively.

What was the point of a cold and restrained banquet?

This way, everyone could feel comfortable.

"Yicheng..." Qian Beibei asked unwillingly, "Is there really no way for us to go back? I know you can't forget me. And I can't forget you either."

"That day was my fault. I didn't consider your feelings. You've already done so much for me. I must've lost my mind to reject you like that. And you only married Miss Tang on impulse. Yicheng, why torment ourselves like this? Why drag innocent Miss Tang into this? Can't we start over?"

Hearing those words, Luo Yicheng only found them somewhat ridiculous.

But Qian Beibei's pitiful pleading voice still made his heart ache. He couldn't bring himself to say harsh words.

"No."

He feared that if he listened any longer, he'd truly soften.

He had never been able to refuse Qian Beibei's requests.

But it was over now.

He was married.

Continuing this entanglement would benefit no one.

"Beibei, I'm already married. If there's nothing else, let's end the call."

"My flight is at nine tonight. I need to head to the airport now."

Qian Beibei simply couldn't believe that Luo Yicheng had actually hung up on her.
