Chapter 1038: The Flash Marriage Heiress (22)

Qian Beibei looked up in surprise. "Did he go on a business trip, or did he take leave?"

"He took leave."

Pressing her lips together, she hesitated before asking, "What about the day after tomorrow? Will he be here then?"

Luo Yicheng's colleague shook his head.

"No. He took five days off. He won't be back at work until next Tuesday."

"Did something happen to Yicheng?"

Qian Beibei's face turned pale as she asked anxiously. Her hands clenched tightly, and her heartbeat accelerated.

The people who hadn't left exchanged glances, not knowing what to say.

A perfectly good wedding had been ruined by the Qian family.

They had all witnessed how hard Luo Yicheng had worked to buy a house and a car. Setting aside workplace competition, they genuinely admired him.

None of them could have done what he had.

And none of them had expected Qian Beibei to humiliate him in public on his wedding day.

Luo Yicheng had indeed become the laughingstock, but then a Tang family heiress had appeared and instantly restored his dignity.

That was also why they couldn't help feeling jealous of him.

His luck was truly good.

As for Qian Beibei, they genuinely looked down on her.

Now that she regretted everything and wanted to rekindle things, Luo Yicheng had already registered his marriage with Miss Tang. Yet she still shamelessly came looking for him.

What was that supposed to be?

No matter how you looked at it, if she dared become entangled with him again, she'd be the other woman.

Several female employees from Luo Yicheng's company shook their heads and walked past her with unconcealed disdain.

Those looks of disgust made Qian Beibei's face burn with embarrassment, but she still desperately wanted to know what had happened to Luo Yicheng.

The colleague answering her was relatively kind. Although he also looked down on her somewhat, he still explained.

"Luo Yicheng took leave to go back to his hometown for a wedding. So, Miss Qian, if you have something to discuss, come back next Tuesday."

Then, after a pause, he added, "But whatever it is you want from him, Miss Qian, he's already married to Miss Tang."

It was a friendly reminder, and the implication was obvious.

As a man, he understood men very well.

After the humiliation Qian Beibei and her family had inflicted on Luo Yicheng that day, even if Luo Yicheng still harbored feelings for her, and even if fate somehow brought them back together in the future, that incident would forever remain a knot in his heart.

If not handled carefully, it could erupt at any time and destroy their relationship.

The only way to untie that knot would be for them to undergo countless hardships and elevate their feelings to another level.

Of course, all of that was beside the point.

The most important thing was that Luo Yicheng was now a married man.

If Qian Beibei involved herself again, she'd become the mistress who destroyed another person's family.

This outcome had been caused by Qian Beibei herself.

He was merely offering a final piece of advice.

But Qian Beibei didn't hear any of it.

Her mind was completely occupied by one sentence.

Luo Yicheng had gone back to his hometown to hold another wedding.

Suppressing the tears threatening to fall, she bade everyone farewell and hurried downstairs.

As soon as she stepped out of the office building, she finally broke down and sobbed. Pulling out her phone, she called Luo Yicheng.

The call rang several times before someone answered.

Her heart twisted painfully.

In the past, whenever she called him, he had never let it ring more than three times.

"Yicheng… I…"

She choked out his name, her voice trembling.

Five seconds later, a pleasant female voice sounded from the other end.

"Miss Qian?"
