Chapter 1022: The Flash Marriage Heiress (6)
Even if the host poured out ten million sincere hearts, Luo Yicheng would never forget Qian Beibei. On the contrary, Qian Beibei would only become more important to him.
He
had always known that Tang Guo liked him. Trying to move him with feelings now
would accomplish nothing.
Host-sama
truly was clever—she had seen through everything at a glance.
Tang
Guo ordered an extravagant spread of takeout. About half an hour later, a knock
sounded from outside.
As
Tang Guo stepped out to collect the delivery, Luo Yicheng heard the commotion
and emerged from his room. Seeing the bags in her hands, he remembered that she
hadn't eaten much today either, and guilt flashed across his eyes.
"I'm
sorry. I didn't think things through."
"It's
fine. I ordered your portion too."
Tang
Guo arranged the food on the table and looked up at him with a smile.
"Come eat."
"I'm
not hungry."
"You
have to eat even if you're not hungry. Your body won't be able to take it
otherwise." Tang Guo patiently persuaded him. "If your body gives
out, how are you supposed to work in a few days? So many things have happened,
Yicheng, but you can't spend the rest of your life like this, can you?"
Luo
Yicheng walked over and sat at the table, but he still made no move to pick up
his chopsticks.
"Take
care of yourself and work hard. You're already amazing. In just five years
you've achieved what many people spend a lifetime chasing. You're bound to
succeed eventually—it just takes time."
The
disappointment in Luo Yicheng's eyes faded slightly, replaced by renewed
determination. Tang Guo was right. Compared to most people, he really was
outstanding.
"Niu
Jinlan looks down on your background and demanded six hundred and sixty
thousand yuan in bride price right in front of everyone today. That's simply
shortsighted. Anyone with eyes can tell that Luo Yicheng is a stock with
enormous potential. Give yourself enough time, and your future won't be
bad."
Deeply
encouraged, Luo Yicheng finally began eating. Though he still wasn't in the
best mood, Tang Guo's words improved his appetite. Only now did he realize how
uncomfortable his empty stomach felt.
Looking
at the bowl of porridge in front of him, warmth spread through his heart. When
he looked at Tang Guo again, there was even more guilt in his eyes.
He
had always known that this rich young lady liked him. But he and Beibei had
gotten together during their freshman year.
After
learning he already had a girlfriend, Tang Guo had straightforwardly apologized
and quietly withdrawn. Yet her feelings for him had never changed.
Throughout
their four years of university, Tang Guo hadn't dated a single boyfriend.
And
today, in a moment of impulse, he had suddenly asked her whether she wanted to
marry him. Thinking back now, he felt a trace of regret.
"That's
more like it. Once you're full, go take a shower and get a good night's sleep.
Tomorrow will be a brand-new day." Tang Guo's eyes curved into crescents
as she smiled. "Rest for two days, and you'll be able to return to work
full of energy."
System:
So you can make money for her?
Luo
Yicheng nodded heavily. "I will."
Since
he had already married her, he would try to forget Qian Beibei. After all, Qian
Beibei had chosen her mother. There was nothing more he could say.
He
couldn't possibly insist on marrying her and make her shoulder the stigma of
being unfilial.
If
there was anyone to blame, it was himself. He still wasn't capable enough to
satisfy Niu Jinlan.
Thinking
of Tang Guo's words of encouragement, much of his previous dejection
disappeared. Even his eating speed quickened.
After
finishing the meal, Luo Yicheng watched Tang Guo gather the trash and place it
by the door. The more he watched, the more he felt sorry for the girl who
genuinely loved him.
After
some thought, he reached into his pocket, took out one of his bank cards, and
handed it to her.
"I
know you don't lack money, and I don't have much either, but this is my
attitude."
At
present, he truly couldn't accept being with her as husband and wife.
He
needed time.
